Why when someone has low self esteem, others push it into your face and make you feel worse?

And act as if it's all your fault you have low self esteem.

Some other people like to do this to make themselves look better than you, in reality, they are insecure and possibly have a very low self esteem also.
They think they feel better and look better by belittling you.
Try to ignore them, as hard as that is.

Is it you that have low self esteem? If so why? I think that sometimes people son't know what to say to people that feels that way. They may think that their helping and they really don't know wha to do to help you. Or sometimes they will just do things to hurt you and make feel bad, but it's not your fault. See when people don't know who you are and what your background is and what your going or been through. They will only go by what they see on the outside and they never look inside of you to see wow she's/ he's hurt, how can I be a better friend. I have learned in life sometime people will push you down and never help you up or the same person who helped you up will push you down and keep you down, just so they can be on top.

I dont mean to belittle your experiences, but sometimes people are hard on people with low self esteem to get them to harden up a bit. Different things work for different people. I respond well to compliments etc but some people get spurred on when they are faced with harsh criticism. You never know which tactic a person might respond to.

Other people that are cruel to those with low self esteem, are just probably insensitive characters with little positive going on in their own lives. They feel terrible, and making others feel bad seems to lift their spirits lol
