I guess it must have been fun. I wrote a column for a political newsletter some years ago. That was done for free. I've been paid for a few pieces, here and off-shore. And the two novels I wrote never got sold for publication. Of course, real life overtook my art on September 11th, but I though they were pretty good and the two dozen or so people who read the galley proofs thought so.
The political column did pay off to a degree when I was invited to be part of a panel at a Council of Foreign Relations' "road seminar". They extended the invitation because I seemed to have been the only columnist who predicted the death of the Soviet Union in the year in which it happened.

I write for fun. I've always enjoyed writing and took a Creative Writing class through the mail once. I'm sure most of us would like it to be for profit. If you have a love of writing though, you will continue to do it whether you're paid or not.

I've written for fun and profit, both.
However, I'm currently writing my first book. It's for Seniors. Should be coming out next year. I've yet to design the opening pages, but the book itself, is pretty well written now.

I started writing for fun. Thought I'd get ideas for revisions and about where the story line should go from family and friends. Ended up with such a diverse group of "suggestions" that I lost heart entirely and hung up my writing instruments.

hi. i am writing for both fun and profit, although in different fields. i am a content / web writer (profit) and i am also into creative writing, indulging myself into them during my free time (fun)... hope the two worlds will meet.
goodluck to all of us writers at heart!

When I write, it's mostly to sort things out for myself; or on a blog that is open to anyone who may find wisdom in what I've shared. I doubt I have enough talent to make any money at it.

A few for profit, not many. I am lazy. I spend too much time on here.

For fun, though not as much these days as I used to - have always steered away from 'for profit' as when I tried it once the 'deadlines' and other attendant nuisances somewhat dampened my muses. ;-)
