What kind of gas is best for my 1984 camaro. I use 89 because 87 makes it run rough and 93 makes it burn gas but some places i go for 89 it makes my car run rough too.

You use the gas that makes your car run. Period.

Octane rating should NOT effect how smooth your car runs. It should only effect whether your car knocks or not. My cars used to knock so until I could figure out why, I used super (92 / 93). But once I figured out what was wrong, I went back to 87 and it ran just as smooth.

Ask yourself if the car is really running smooth or you FEEL like it is running smooth. It may be all psychological effect.

Good Luck.

have you tried giving it a tune up? spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor button, air filter and fuel filter? if that doesn't fix the problem try running some fuel injeector/carb cleaner through it...stuff is usually like $5 for a bottle and you pour it into your gas tank right before filling up.... as for what gas it should take... the stock engine with no modifications should only need 87 octane... higher compression ratio's commonly found in supercharged/turbo cars need higher octane to prevent detonating

Have a little look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating
I would say your car needs a good tune up.
