Tell them the truth.... ER's are run on a priority basis, not first come first serve. So what you are saying here is you would lie ( and commit insurance fraud ) in order to get ahead in line before someone having a heart attack, stroke, a stabbing or gunshot wound victim etc. That is horrible. You don't mind possibly costing the life of someones child, someones husband or wife, or someones mom or dad. What is the matter with you? An er's resources are finite and in most places stretched beyond their limits because of people going to the er who are not really in need of emergent care. If it isn't a life or death emergency, or loss of limb, or so much pain you can't bear it one more minute then what the heck are you going to an er for? It is not a clinic or a doctor's office. If you do have a true emergency you will be seen soon enough

These are sample of life-threatening cases that are triage on a first priority basis.
1) Head Injury
2) Bleeding from Trauma
3) Chest Pains
4) Loss of consciousness unresponsive to CPR
5) no vital signs.
6) Difficulty of respirations or inability to breathe
7) Eminent delivery or early labor
8) Burn victims
9) Hazardous victims or victims of nuclear bombs

The modern ER faces difficult problems in dealing with overcrowding. The most immediate threat is trying to make sure ER staff saves as many lives as possible. But they must still consider nonurgent patients enduring longer stays in the waiting rooms outside the ER.

Local hospitals have implemented new measures to improve the quality and flow of care to and from the ER. Ultimately, though, patients need to understand the longer they wait, the more lives are being saved in the operating rooms. It’s impossible to know when a car accident or heart attack could put someone’s life in immediate danger and cause you to wait a little longer for an available doctor.

Black – Expectant (severe burns, severe trauma)

Red – Immediate (less severe trauma, illness)

Yellow – Observation (currently stabilized, but needing care)

Green – Wait (not in immediate need of medical care)

White – Dismiss (in no need of medical attention)

Why would you lie to get seen in an ER?? When you're checked out by the nurses and doctors, they will be able to tell if you're lying or not by your vital signs and what's going on with you.
How would you feel if you lied about what was wrong with you and someone died, because the ER team was taking care of you?

If you tell them you are having chest pains they get you in right away. But remember this. You could very well be taking up a bed that a person with real chest pains need. What if he doesnt get the help that he/she needs as quickly because you lied about why you were visiting the ER. Also it will get awful expensive because they will run a bunch of tests on you.

be honest, you could jeopardise someones life by lying just to be seen sooner. they take your vitals and can generally tell how you are doing by how you look/talk etc. nurses know when you are lying. BTW- what are you doing online rather than gping to the ER, if you need the ER you should be out the door already. give honest answers about symptoms, pain, medical history etc

Go to an Urgent Care or Emergent Care. The wait is not long at these places and most are open until 9 pm

Don't lie. It will be found out. If you say you're having chest pains, you'll be seen immediately but you will have wasted time and resources and may take attention away from someone who really needs it. Besides, we'll find out pretty quickly that you're fine.....and we won't be happy about it.

Nothing you say will really get you in quicker because they are going to examine you and your body will tell them the numbers they want to know.
