Yes, we were taught basic ballroom dancing in school. Yes, I've done the dang Bunny Hop and hope to never do it again, and I refuse to do that Chicken Dance. Conga lines, yes, as well. Bring back disco!

Sure did! Kids in my gradeschool did the Bunny Hop during
gym sometimes. I don't remember what grade we started it.
Probably around the 4th or maybe 5th grade.
And around the age of 13 alot of us took dancing lessons
at the House of Leon, to learn all the basics so we'd be ready
for school dances in highschool the next year. We took lessons during the summer. I remember a large number of
the real popular kids turned out for about a month of lessons.
But no, to the Conga line. Never was in one of those ever. I
think it would be fun tho. Even though, I couldn't even lift my legs high enough LOL. They are always in a bent position
placed under my computer desk LOL.

The only time I remember dancing in a line around the building was at a Greek Festival and doing the standard Greek dance. The box step, I haven't heard that phrase in almost 50 years. What a trip! The Bunny Hop, we weren't allowed to do that in the school dances where I went to school.

Yes, but we called it the Conga Step. All these different countries. Can't recall the Bunny Hop. don't know what a box step is.

I started dance lessons at age four. That's what little girls did in the early fifties if your folks could afford them. I remember learning the box step and doing the bunny hop years later at dances. When I was about twelve the cha cha was the big new dance then a couple of years later the twist. Those were so much fun.

Yes to the "box step" and school dances! LOL! I especially remember dancing the box step at the Homecoming Dance my sophomore year of high school.

The Bunny Hop and Conga line I have danced, but not in school, later on at conferences and weddings.

The first dance I learned was the 'jitter-bug'. My dad danced the jitter bug with me my whole life. I have baby pictures of myself and my dad....with him dancing with me as an infant (me and my baby bonnet....and him still having hair!). We last danced at a family wedding....75 years old and all the women wanted to dance with him.

I remember practicing the box step. I never did the bunny hop at a school dance, but did at a wedding. Now I've got that 'hop, hop, hop' music running through my head. lol

I thought the box step was pretty boring, but, however the Bunny Hop was fun and we used to do it at half times at ballgames. Of course I went to a country school!! We did it to unit with the opposite team. Today, they would probably have a brawl!!!

Yes, and yes. I've also seen a whole floor full of girls doing the macarena because there were no guys around to do any other dances. I've done a bit of foxtrot, Spanish tango, rhumba, salsa, cha cha, ballroom waltz, folk waltz, (insert various European and Balkan folk dances), nightclub twostep, east and west coast swing....and the chicken dance!

And just for Cranky: I've done the hokey pokey on rollerskates! How about you?
