It depends. If I'm in a good mood, I'm an idealist.
If I'm depressed, then I'm a realist.
It's really quite a fine line.

That depends on the day and the challenges at hand. Both are really necessary equally in an ideal, but in reality of life here on this planet, we do experience the necessity of both with sometimes one being more effective than another. I think realists can be both and idealists can be both; but both have not yet found the temporal ground that makes it harmonious with God's plan to be temporate rather than find some extreme.
Edit: Some type of idealism are highly realistic, and some types of realism eventually prove to be false in the long term (such as at one time it was conisidered to be realistic to think the earth was flat, and even though they thought this they thought there was still territory to be explored and did, and that part was idealism.

I used to be a realist. Then I realized why stress myself. Everything is so much better from an idealistic point of view. So now I embrace idealism!

I have some of both in me, but I believe I am more of a REALIST. I am very level headed and very sure of myself on most levels of subjects.
