The Union Flag is sometimes known as the Union Jack after its creator, James I of England, James VI of Scots. Jack comes from the Latin for James, Jacobus.

what do u mean by this question - do u mean which flag is the oldest flag or which flag has the most amount of changes and historical significances??

the flag with the most changes and with the most historical significances is the US flag
with 27 changes in 200 years

the flags of the british isles are also quite interesting like the england flag is over 800 years old
the union flag 300 years old with one change - the adding of the irish cross in 1802

then of course our union flag being on so many other national flags in the canton and the story of the british empire

Personally I think the flag of Mozambique has a unique historical story. It has an AK47 emblazoned on it. Certainly a honest admission that power does indeed come from the barrel of a gun. Otherwise any of the oldest countries can stake a claim to historical stories interwoven with their flags.

The Union Flag of the UK is pretty interesting as it is made up of the flags of all the formerly independent countries of the British Isles which were absorbed into the United Kingdom.
