Enjoy your bad mood. Get into your bad mood, don't avoid it.
I try to experience my moods for what they are. Generally, if it doesn't get in the way to an extreme, it's not bad to feel negative moods and try to understand their meaning. Sometimes I realize that I've not exercised for a while or that I've not had enough sleep or not eaten properly. Sometimes, it the fact that I've not been able to work on the things that I want to work on because of other responsibilities.
It seems to be the American way is to avoid deep feelings and get past them quickly. My preference is to open up and understand myself better. I'd consider dream interpretation with a Jungian psychotherapist in a group or in individual counceling as a way to expand your consciousness.
If the bad mood is overwhelming and consistent, you definitely need to determine the cause. There are many medical conditions that can cause depression (sleep apnea, sleep depravation, and so on). Most medical conditions can be treated once they are correctly diagnosed.
You question leads me to believe you want a band-aid treatment for your bad mood. I suggest you not simply treat the symptom. Get to the root cause and address it. It might be an opportunity for you to learn more about yourself, mature, and grow as a human being.
I'd also turn off the propaganda on the media that is often mistaken for news. Good luck and may you have the mood that suits you at the moment.

Someone once told me that the way you feel is a choice....at the time I did'nt get it because that had never occurred to me the way you feel about things a choice? But know I know that its true you can choose to be unhappy or refuse and focus on the good. If you have a glass of water and it is at the half way mark you can either see that it is have empty or see that it is half full...make sense? Some may think it is to simple of an idea..we can choose

I try to remember really funny scenes from movies or maybe watch a really favorite comedy movie. Watching may not be possible though if I am at work or something. I have a photgraphic memory for things so I play my favorite scenes in my head
