You must realize that they were using state of the art navigational equipment and methodology at that time. To ask such a question is like asking why we went to the moon in the 1960's instead of waiting until there were better computers and electronics. I submit that it is because we went to the moon that technology made such giant leaps, not the other way around..
The dreams and aspirations of man create the technology. Without such big dreams, there would be no demand for higher and higher technology.

Some people understand that the journey is more important than the destination. In this case I am refering to life in general. What's the point of living until you're 80 if you're bored off your *** instead of taking some chances and actually enjoying life, however long it may be? Of course, there are also reasons like the need to work in exchange for food or money to buy food.

I guess people did risk their lives but in those years, navigation was done using the stars and the sun. The only thing that makes me wonder is how they felt sailing into the unknown.

They wanted to see the end of the world. In earlier times man believed that the earth was flat, and that the ocean ended on the horizon. Besides, how were they to know that, in time to come, useful navigational aids were to be invented. They might have waited for that if you had told them.

no person stumbled on united states of america; it became into already right here whilst Europeans sailed over and commenced claiming the land as their very own. yet I accept as true with a prior answer that became into given, it became into ultimately going to happen with the aid of fact the middle classification in Europe needed a flavor of the riches being enjoyed via elites, so as that they began to look someplace else for gold and different spices that may lead them to wealthy... The Americas became their next conquest with the aid of fact they needed land, riches, and slaves to accomplish all of the hard artwork... actually they subjugated an entire inhabitants of persons which have been residing right here (whom we now confer with as community individuals), the Aztecs, Mayans, Incas, etc down the line and this became into achieved by greed.

You have any idea how great it is to know something you didn't know and found out yourself? It is an adventure!
Plus new lands means new resources to plunder. In the search for more gold to line their country's coffers. It was motivated by greed.
