has this happened much before, picking out what you thought was the perfect name, but then holding the baby and it just seems wrong?

and does anyone have any explanation as to how someone might pick one name over the other once theyve seen the baby? one of my cousins was going to be jodie or brooke... and my aunt rocked the baby for an horu thinking jodie or brooke... and she chose brooke. which was the best idea, but i wonder how she did it...

any other thoughts on this?

My first daughter I picked her name when i was like 2 months pregnant and stuck to that name all the way through, and when I saw her, that was it, Julia fit her perfectly, like it just felt right.

Now my second daughter, I could not get a feel for a name all through the pregnancy and seriously...she was 4 days old when we finally named her....lol!!! I actually just gave in and told her dad to name her cause the people at the hospital were being so horrible about it that they were making me cry. But now, she is a Samantha for sure to me.

I think its more or less how it feels to you, like what feels right ya know.

Sounds perfectly normal to me. Sometimes the name you pick out just doesn't seem to "fit" your baby once it's born and until something is put on the birth certificate you can change the name as many times as you want, during pregnancy and after birth. You'd have to ask your aunt why she picked Brooke over Jodie, maybe it was the way the baby looked, or she just didn't seem to feel like a Jodie to her.

I picked my child's name before she was born and after I saw her I was like she doesn't look like her name, but I kept it anyway and I wouldn't see her as any other name b/c as I got to know her it suited her more and more.

my mom always says you have to see the baby first.
They had Tracy picked out for my sister and she ended up being called Leigh-Ann

my husband and i couldn't narrow down the names......even when our daughter was born early. it took us a week to finally choose one that fit her. she is totally an Ava!! she's definitely not an Addison or Aubrey!
