You know, I'm really getting tired of doctors lying to me. I just got the Mirena IUD about 3 weeks ago. The doctor told me my husband wouldn't feel the strings, and he does. I also told the doctor that I had a bad experience with the progesterone only minipill where I didn't stop bleeding (filled a pad a day) for 3 months. I had to go off of it for this reason because I was getting dizzy and became anemic. He told me it would be fine, this was "different." Well, it's been 3 weeks and I'm still bleeding consistently. I would not call this spotting as I have to wear a pad.

I'm concerned this is going to be like the minipill again. To add insult to injury, my husband won't have sex with me when I'm bleeding. I washed myself out one night about a week after I got it, and when he felt the string poking him and pulled a way there was a little blood on him, and now he won't even risk having sex with me. He's not a bad guy, and I don't blame him. My sex life has become crap! Help?

I would definitely let the doctor know what's going on. I saw the commercial for Mirena about a week or so ago and one of the things that I remember it saying in the commercial is that breakthrough bleeding (what you are dealing with which can act a lot like a period) can be a side effect.

If your doctor won't listen then I would recommend getting another opinion and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently use.

I even have had 3 Mirena's equipped and that i've got no longer bled or observed with any of them, in actuality with 2 of them i did no longer have any sessions for 4 and 3 years respectively. i understand which you would be able to get some recognizing and bleeding during and after insertion yet once you're nevertheless bleeding and this is gentle to reasonable (i.e. on a daily basis) then i could bypass returned on your wellness care provider to get each thing appeared at.
