people come in this section and answer questions that really have nothing to do with sexuality but still feel the need to announce something like this..
"I am NOT a homosexual..." and then they go on with their answer..
it just reminds me of how some of society still sees our community..
like OK, something as anonymous as the internet and people come here to the L G T B section and feel the need to make it very clear that they are NOT l g t or b...I kind of find it insulting
like hey, I'll talk to you guys but let me make it clear that I am not like you..
I mean I don't go answering questions about heterosexuals and make it my first priority to proclaim my homosexuality
it just...
ahh, u get the point
what do you guys think?

What pisses me off even more is when someone will ask a question about coming out or some other gay issue and then a straight person will come in and say "I dunno, I'm straight."
...like, what the heck was the point, you didn't help the person out at all. You took your points and left. I can at least be alright if you attempted to help someone, but don't just say I don't know lol

I actually think that it is a good thing that straight people are contributing to LGTB. As long as they are not insulting and are putting forth legitimate answers, who cares if someone is straight or not. It also helps to give the questioner a little background about the person - it tells us that they care enough about LGTB people to offer advice. Who knows, the straight people that answer probably have friends that are gay and can understand the kinds of situations that they may face.

next time I answer a question on here should I state OK I am a lesbian not straight? Yeah I agree, they don't need to tell us they aren't gay. If it bothers them then they need to stay away from the gay section

good point
I usually make a point to mention that I don't know what I am as far as sexual orientation goes but that's just so people know that I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about. What I am, I am proud to be it. But I just don't know. :D
Like I said, you do make a god point. I've noticed it but never given it much thought.

Well I'm NOT straight, but...
I think we need a second Internet for those people, one with trainer wheels.

A person may have an interest through a family member or other connection. If they make a serious contribution, then it should be welcome, otherwise it may merely be trolling.

I concur...in fact just before seeing your question, i was browsing through the questions in the lgbt section and thought that very same thing -- and yes it pisses me off too!!!
"Well I'm not gay..."
"Well I'm straight..."
"Well i dunno because i'm hetero...."
"Well i have no information that will help you but just so you know I'm straight!!!"
