You say that you were only parking your friends car but yet you also say that you two switched seats hoping that the cop wouldn't notice. Something doesn't make sense there. Sounds like you were driving with no license and when you saw the cops parked in the parking lot real quick so you could switch seats. And what did you do to draw the cops attention to you in the first place. All in all you don't need a license in a parking lot because it's private property, not a roadway so I know you didn't get a ticket for that. Despite all of this your probably only going to get a fine. Set it up for a hearing and talk to the prosecutor. They only want the money for fines and 9 times out of 10 will give you a break on the ticket. depends on the cop who write you and your driving record.

IF the cop did not come to you and give you a written ticket, he must not have seen you switch places.
You sound concerned and worried as you should be....What you did was not only against the law, but WHAT if you hit someone and injured them? You and your friend would have been in big trouble. THEN you would be talking jail time.
Don't listen to all the people on here trying to scare you.
Just go get your license. Even if you do not have your own car, you need a license. It is a good thing to show for identification also.
Get the book and information needed to study and do it. It is not difficult.
You should have learned an important lesson from this. You got off easy, next time you might not be so lucky.

If the parking lot is privately owned, the cop cannot ticket you for driving or parking there . . . A license is only required on the public roads and a parking lot is 'off-road' in the law . . . If the cop gave you a ticket you can beat it easily by showing up for court and explaining that your driving was on private property and there was no complaint filed by the owners . . .
Even if the owners of the parking lot complained, the only thing a cop could do is to require you to leave it and go away . . .

If the cop did not issue you a citation, I wouldn't worry. Just don't do something like that so stupid next time. If you don't have a driver license, you shouldn't be behind the wheel at all.
If the cop did issue a citation, I suppose it would have been for driving a car without a license. That may require a court appearance, a possible fine or community service, and/or a good slap on your wrist. I doubt if you will be put in jail for a first offense of driving in a parking lot.
But if you don't pay the fine, or show up for a court appearance, you will surely be in deeper trouble and could go to jail in lieu of the posted fine.

If you are a Mexican and used to live live in Texas.....good riddens pal..
Say hello in heavens to the others that have parked wrongly and have received the lethal injection....
If you hire the best of crooked lawyers there, you can get away with life imprisonment without the right of parole.... after they grab the whole of your money and mortgage savings....

No DL is not as serious as a suspended or revoked in most states. These laws do vary from state to state. In KS, a no DL is a non-moving violation. Therefore it is a fine and court cost. There usually is an appearance required in muni court.

If the car was 'legit`, not stolen or reported so,
you get a fine and a talking to.
If there is a question of theft or joy-riding,
Don't pick up the soap.

What exactly happened? You got stopped while parking or you were driving and got pulled over then parked and switched seats? I'm confused. What you did determines your punishment.
