I am getting so frustrated and irritated with this im about ready to give up and take a F. Really. I think my grade can handle it. See the problem is how can i write an essay the i am for or against abortion if i can understand why one would be for it and one would be against it. I feel that getting an abortion just because is wrong but getting one because of a life saving situation or after a tramiatic rape would be ok and a choice for the women. But no matter if one is for or against it i feel that the goverment shouldn't ban it and that in the end it is the mothers choice. I also have to use 2 core democratic values for it but how can i write an essay if I'm in the middle basically neutral.

Essay title ideas:
Who's Body is it, Anyway?
Moral Judgement vs. Freedom of Choice
A Difficult Decision

Introduction
Make an introductory sentence stating that in your opinion the issue of abortion does not have any absolute answers. The issue you are trying to discuss is that abortion is a matter of belief (i.e., when does life truly begin?) conscience (is the deccision made in the best interest of the mother or child?) and choice (a woman has the right to make decisions about her body).

I would then use subheadings and write a paragraph about the heading you used. Some examples of situations where abortion should be allowed:

Pregnancy resulting from forceful acts of violence

Terminating pregnancy when the life of the mother is threatened

Some situations where you believe abortion is morally wrong:

Using abortion as a method of birth control

Irresponsible use of abortion (whatever you think this may be)

Summary and conclusion
Even though you believe there are situations when abortion could be used irresponsibly, you still think that women should have a right to make their own choices. Because the issues surrounding abortion are not clear cut, you think that the government does not have a right to criminalize abortion or limit a woman's freedom of choice.

Anyway, that is what I inferred from your paragraph. You have very good arguments for and against abortion. There are a lot of people who don't see abortion as a black and white issue (I happen to be one of them). If you state your ideas (and the reasoning behind them) clearly, you will have a very good paper.

Just explain your position. You did it when you wrote your question. here. Very few people are totally dead set against abortion in all cases, and very few people think it's alright to get an abortion at the drop of a hat. You are making a very sensible argument. You are pro-choice. You have taken a side. Just go with it.

Expound on this:

"i feel that the goverment shouldn't ban it and that in the end it is the mothers choice"

What harm could come if the government banned abortion? Why do you think the choice should ultimately be left to the mother?

True that you might be neutral on the debate, but writing an argumentative essay requires you to choose a side -- any side. Preferably one which you can write the most about.

The first paragraph write a summary of the abortion situation and list the main source who brought this on. The second paragraph should outline the first reason as to why you are for/against it, as well as the third paragraph. Your final conclusion should be the most convincing and needs to cover why you came upon that idea.

It can be really frustrating, but you cannot be neutral on essays like these. What helps if you write an outline and list the reasons why you're for or against it, and that'll give you an idea of which side you wanna choose.

buena suerte!

Being neutral is also a choice. I also have quite similar opinion with you, abortion is allowed with specific conditions. The most important is when diagnostic reports explain it is dangerous for the mother's life to keep continue. No limitation in abortion also same with grabbing the right for human to live. The dilemma isn't yours only.

I think It's OK to write whatever your opinion is, and i hope you will get pass through it.

You just made very good arguments. Just say that you are against in on principle except in cases where it is warranted for medical reasons, but you also feel that it is a personal choice and that the government should not dictate personal choices.

there is your answer...that is your essay write about being torn between the two options i mean you have a right to be unsure that's what makes for great writing.....say what you feel not what you think others just want to hear...unless otherwise instructed you know what i mean? if they told you to write about a big mac you wouldn't explain why a whopper is so great unless they specified that you should write about which was better then you could say both! good luck i hope you get what i'm trying ot say

you're answering your own problems, you just don't see it. you can write about how you're for abortion because everyone's situation is different, and that even if it's wrong abortion is a mother's right, not the government's to decide.

Sure! Just take one viewpoint [ whichever is easier to write about ] and then at the end tell teacher you personally have feelings for both sides.

Everyone answered very well above.

I will have to agree that you should just pick a side, state your thesis, back it up, and sum it up.

Not too hard once you get moving.
Support your arguments with evidence and deal with counter-arguments.

Wish I could write it for you. I miss that stuff. :)

Pick the side that goes more in depth. Whichever side has more reasons. It's not going to be a masterpiece or a paper you are proud of, but it should be fairly easy to crank a page or two out (I hope it is not more than a 3 page paper)
