I say, there are many to choose from. But my votes are going 50/50 split to:

Madonna

and

Mariah Carey

they write HITS and lots of them and sell many more albums than most females half their age. Both continue to be musically relevant despite the fact it's been over 15 years since they've each entered the game and (Confessions on a Dancefloor; The Emancipation of Mimi) despite competition from younger artists. They're proof there is no shelf life to a musical career if you have natural talent, songwriting ability, and creativity.
