This is one of those stereotypical things that makes me angry.
Look around and you'll see plenty of African Americans in the Republican party. Colin Powell and Condi Rice come to mind. Just like you see Christians in the democratic party.
It seems to me neither party can afford to take any constituency group for granted as neither have enough of a margin on the other to speak of.

Actually I think it's a little pompous of the Dems for assuming they'll get the African American vote. It's a considerable voting block, one worth working for. In Maryland, I know having Michael Steele on the ticket put the first Republican governor in the state house in almost 40 years.

African Americans are deemed to vote for Democratics but they have the discretion to vote for a Republican if qualified for the position and non of the disqualifications.
VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know whether a Democrat or Republican will likely win.

If you can give me a better example than Alan Keyes or Clarence Thomas, we might have a conversation.
How many black people can identify with CT? And Alan Keyes is always trying to prove how smart he is.
Colon Powell is worth listening to but he was all but kick out of the cabinet.
Get some realistic, straight talking, grounded in reality black republicans, and maybe we will listen. But you got to do better than what we have seen so far.
Most black people are Democrats because the republican party doesnt even approach the black community in any civilized way to appeal for our votes. There is no black repulican presence.

it is truly a shame Ive typed this before but it does apply
when crab fishing a person puts a rock on the basket to keep a single crab from crawling out but when they catch 2 or more crabs they don't need the rock anymore because the crabs will pull each other down so they can get out first.

That would depend on the person, not the party they support.
Quite often Republicans that happen to be black, change the pitch of their voice to be more palatable to their white constituents. I speak the same around my white friends as I do around my black friends, Asian friends and so on. I generally like people regardless of their culture. So people tend to reciprocate the feeling.
It isn't so much the party, but more so the pretense. We (black vs white) do sound different due to our physical features (lips, tongue, nose). One should not change who they are to be more acceptable to others, as this often is not necessary anyway. I have yet to have friends of any culture complain about the sound of my voice. Nor have I ever complained about theirs.
### You do have a segment of all cultures that accuse their fellow blacks or whites of turning on their own kind. This occurs within a percentage of ALL cultures. ###

Because of ignorance.
Anyone that knows history knows the democratic party and racism go hand and hand.
