I tried putting up window film but that wasn't working out so well. I was wondering if theres any type of paint thats safe for use on glass and wood so that it will not damage the door. Something that can be washed off in the future. If anyone has any other ideas of what I could use to cover the glass, something that will not allow too much light to pass through. I don't want to put up a curtain on the door so thats out of the question.

Thanks so much for any suggestions!!

There really isn't space between the door and the wall went you slide it in so no blinds can be put..

Why not use some contact paper? It comes in all designs from clear to frosted to no light at all.
You can also mix beer and Epsom salts to make a frosted design on the door, it will just wash off with soap and water.
How about on line window film in a stained glass design?
You can buy spray paint for windows in a frosted and green paint, maybe more colors by now.

Try an etching cream. It makes the window frosted, but allows a lot of ambient light through. You'll need practice before tackling the doors, but it's a great effect.

There are also "liquid stained glass" kits that are available at craft stores. You can make your own designs, and it's totally removable, yet durable.

you can buy sheets of fake frosted glass that just stick to the glass. they peel right off when not in use. I can't remember where I saw them, but I think it might have been a Dr. Leonard's catalog.

Or you could think about mounting your curtain rods above the doors, rather than on them. Then you could have the curtains open when you want and closed when you need privacy.

They have faux stained glass paint that comes in a tube like fabric paint. You can buy patterns too. Look it up online-I've done it before it looks pretty good, there's colored and frosted so you'd still get the light but it would distort the view if anyone was looking in

You can get etching at a craft store and paint it on the glass or some comes in a spray can. I have seen it done and it is pretty.

Have you searched on line for decorative adhesive window film? I found this: http://wallpaperforwindows.com/

Glass can also be painted with paint after proper priming. This can be scraped off with a razor blade when you no longer want it.
