Finally at this stage in my life (50 yrs) I can finally see that sometimes you just cannot help some people. I always made excuses, they were poor, they were uneducated, they did not know better, noone taught them etc....
I finally learned that people make their own choices and no matter what the background anyone can have a good life it just takes hard work and being able to say No to things that are easier to do but have more consequences. You cannot save everyone but If you help one person and that person wants the help you have accomplished something. Not all people want to change and make a better life......
That was hard to learn.

My most important life lessons occurred when my brother died in a tragic accident and during my divorce. All of life is a lesson no matter if you judge each life experience as good or bad. Look for the gift in every experience and to not judge it is the key.

I´ve learned to try and give everyone a chance. I know that seems cliched, but it´s so easy to assume that people are as shallow as they seem, but of course everyone has a front that they show the world. I´ve learned this by luck really, forming close relationships with people that I initially thought that I could never connect with.
If you understand that everyone´s living their own life and they´re not just side characters in your own, you can gain a better understanding of why people are the way they are and be able to connect more easily .

I have not have been given any concept if this could properly be a existence lesson...and this is form of cheesy, yet i assume crimson Floyd's Fearless is my well-liked: "Fearlessly the fool confronted the gang, smiling impassive the Justice of the Peace turns 'around, frowning and who's the fool who wears the crown pass down on your very own way And accepted is the superb day"

It is now "what" but "who." It is seeing myself through the eyes of my two children that I am able to see what I am all about. They ask me for honesty and love and patience...and I am painfully aware of the fringe of my imperfections. Yet.. with this awareness I am able to grow and stretch these edges to become a better person...a more honest, loving and patient person for their sake.

work hard towards what you truly want to be and be positive (I am not that one though)
And I also learned from To Kill A Mockingbird that you can't really understand a person until you walk in their skin and see how they are feeling.

However your life is going -- good, bad or otherwise -- it is all up to you. If something needs to be changed, make the change yourself. You can't make anybody else change.

Learning that it's more important to accept yourself than to be accepted by others. You feel a little freer that way.
