I purchased a home and it went into forclosure. Now I need to prove that the home has been purchased. What documents do I need to get. I can't get in touch with the people who purchased the home?

You will be able to go to the county building where the house was sold and get a copy of the new recorded mortgage if no mortgage then the new deed which has the new owner showing when it was recorded and who it was purchase from. The chain of title will also have the owner information and when it was sold and who owned it. Good Luck.

All real estate transfers are public record. Contact your county clerk of courts or recorders office. If you are certain that your home did sell to someone, ask them for a copy of the most recent title transfer or deed on your properties address.

Just because a home goes into foreclosure though, doesn't mean it has sold yet. Where I live in Ohio the whole process can take up to 12 months (sometimes longer) for the title to transfer out of the owners name.

It was purchased by the bank when you went into foreclosure. Your foreclosure paperwork is proof of that fact. You ceased to own it at that point and any subsequent owner after your foreclosure is irrelevant to your case. You could probably get a copy of the current deed at the local deed registry office, usually at the county courthouse.

You should have a HUD 1 Statement from either the escrow company or closing attorney. It will show that the house was closed on a certain date and will also show what it was sold for.

There will be a deed on file at the county recorder (or whatever it is called in your area) showing a transfer from you to the new owner.
