I have a friend that is an archivist...an archivist, a librarian with a master's degree...and she says "Li-berry". It kills me.

The word that gets to me, and I'm an historian, is "antique". I tend say it "ant-ique" not "an-tique". Kills me.

Don't you ever mispronounce words for the fun of it.? Language and speaking is a form of poetry and sometimes it is fun just to say words "wrong" just for the pure pleasure of the sound, if nothing else to riff a variation.

I'm a dispatcher and often have to say "burglary" or "burgler alarm" over the police radio. I never used to have a problem with it, but I once took a call from a person who said they had "a little BURGERly" occur. I made such fun over the way the person said it, I altered my own speech and now can't say the word properly myself!

I usually mispronounce specific. so now I sound weird when I'm engaged in a convo and have to use it because I have to say it really slow...all three syllables worth, lol. That and oddly enough jewelry ends up jury.

Hmmm, had to think about that one.
I can't think of any-- I pick up other languages quite easily as well as regional accents, so I am fairly gifted when it comes to pronunciation.

But I do mispeak, use Spoonerisms and make up my own words from time to time. (Overcomeable is my latest...)

yeah, but now that i think about it i don't even think i can spell it, 'specific' i always pronounce it like the pacific ocean, so when i say the word i say 'pacific'. It is pretty funny when it does come out of my mouth.
