Just write what you've got so far in your journal or someplace where it won't be tossed. Great lines are treasures to be hoarded jealousy.
A lot of the pieces I have written will eventually be torn down and overhauled if they contain good ideas or language. Its OK to plagiarize yourself. Its one of the benefits of being unpublished.

I am always like that. You need to keep trying. Think what you want to write about and write it and then put it in a form of a poem. Some poems rhyme and some do not. I have read poems that do not rhyme. Or do not sound like a poem but is a poem. Thats how I do my poems when I want to write a poem.

Yes. It happens all the time--yesterday actually. It stinks, but I'd rather have a vague idea than have no ideas at all--that's worse. I usually just write it down save it somewhere, and move on. I look at it again after a few weeks and see if anything comes to me. Often it doesn't go anywhere at all.
I wish I had a better answer for you.

I'm not sure if this is a very good method, but i usually wait for one line to come to me, then work the rest of the poem around that one line. Sometimes that line isn't even in the finished poem, I just use it to get started.

Happening to me atm, has happened to me in the past. One poem was very serious in my making but held me in an emotional grip. Too date, not finished, can't seem to get out of the grip of the emotional distress when I even think about at any attempt to work on it.
The one I am thinking of atm, just thinking it over and how to make my idea for the poem work one line at a time.
Don't hurry your poem, think over this nice phrase you have, how it came to be, reflect on it, visualize it. Just remember this poem is coming from you, first and foremost ( for me anyway), is how you will enjoy it when it is finished.
Good luck and please share! :)

Ooh yes. It happens to me quite often only a little bit differently.
In my case, I get the urge to compose a beautiful poem about a crystal clear idea but then the phrases and appropriate poetic expressions simply become vague and eventually take to flight leaving my idea barren and bare. My mind, it seems, mocks my brilliant thought with devilish abandon.
For instance, I wanted to compose a pretty poem for my love, expressing my innermost heartfelt feelings, I wanted to express my deeply-felt desires and erotic longings. I yearned to share with my love the sweet secrets and pleasures of Cupid's damning arrow. My heart missed a beat when my love blew me a loving kiss. And I, I remained transfixed there like a lifeless plastic robot, pleading in vain with all the unassuming deities and indifferent muses of poetry to come to my aid. But all deserted me. And my love soon simply grinned sarcastically and walked away. Then I recalled the fox and the sour grapes tale. Having missed the opportunity to compose my love a dignified rib-tickling poem, I scribbled down these sardonic lines for my own luckless delight!
What to do?
Put down the phrase in black and white, focus all your thoughts on it. Ideas, like scavenging vultures, will begin flying randomly in the horizon. Snatch them and scribble down on paper. Organize subsequently and your poem will soon be priceless!!!
good luck

Yes, of course! This is exactly when u really need inspiration (as cliche as it might sounds). Inspiration can be environmental. For example u might try sitting by a lake or a beautiful park...to get closer to nature. Some people might also be inspired by having a great love life. Inspiration isn't magic...it's just a driving force to help your ideas flow brilliantly. Good luck! ;-)

I've certainly written more half-poems than completed ones -- probably 10 to 1. On rare occasions, I'll revisit something I put away, but in general, the unfinished poems die a merciless death in the blue bin. A moment of silence, please ...
