We don't live in a Democracy, we live in a Republic. As such, we vote representatives by district within a state for the U.S. House of Representatives, and representatives by state for the U.S. Senate.

For President, the major parties appoint representatives to the Electoral College. Those appointees are supposed to vote for President based on the laws of that state, and usually do.

The question is worded to imply we don't have Democracy. And in a sense the question asker is correct.

Go to the polls and see if they let you vote.
If they let you vote then you have democracy.
If the people you vote for dont win then oh well the majority wins.
If the majority doesnt elect the president thank all the big states for that. They are the reason for that deal

I don't have any proof.

I have proof that we are a judicial oligarchy instead. That proof is the Surpeme Court's decision in Bush v. Gore.
