I assume you want to expand it.

(a+b)² = a² + 2ab + b²

(x+1)² = x² + 2x + 1² = x² + 2x + 1

2(x+1)² + 1
= 2(x² + 2x + 1) + 1
= 2x² + 4x + 2 + 1
= 2x² + 4x + 3

(x+1)^2 = x^2 +2x +1

3. multiplication/division
2( x^2 +2x +1) = 2x^2 +4x +2

4. addition/subtraction
2x^2 +4x +2 +1
2x^2 + 4x +3

that is all I could think to do... I don't know what you wanted me to do...

Its just basic distribution that's all.
But never add a variable or # with anything if it isn't a like term.
