slope of a line with 2 points given is :

m = (y2-y1) / (x2- x1)

m = (2 + 3) / (-7 -8)

m = (5) / (-15)

m= -5 /15

Divide top and bottom by 5:

m = -1/3

Now that you have the slope, all you need is one point to write the line... You may chose either...
y +3 = -1/3 ( x - 8)
or
y - 2 = -1/3 (x+7)

both are the same thing...

but then the answer is requested in slope-intercept form so isolate the y:

y = (-1/3) x -7/3 +2
y = (-1/3) x -1/3

y = -1/3 x - 1/2

mid-point on the run is 7.5 from each end and that's 1/2

mid-point vertically -1/2

the run is 15 the rise is 5 rise / run = slope
