Do they think the country can run for free?

Can you believe somebody would say this?

There are a lot of theories about income taxes being unconstitutional. I don't know of any that don't have someone that tested them in court and wound up serving jail time. Some are terribly flawed even in theory.

Anyway, they ARE constitutional, but shouldn't be. To become constitutional, it took passage of an amendment to the constitution, and the virtual enslavement of working people to the federal government HAS occurred, and was precisely why the constitution didn't allow it in the first place.

Now, for your belief that the country couldn't run for free, you are overlooking the possibility that the federal government, if kept within the boundaries set by the constitution, could operate on "user fees" and "Import duties".

I think it's entirely possible that we could do away with all Income Taxes, and still fund the parts of the federal government that we actually benefit from. The empirical data from 1776 to 1913 supports my belief.

They based their answer on The Emergency Banking Act of March 9th, 1933 by the 73rd Congress on June 5, 1933, declaring that the government had become bankrupt and was dissolved under Roosevelt. 48, STAT.1, Public Law 89-719.

The "unconstitutional" aspect has to do with having a private (non-governmental) contractor administor the federal tax system. That would be the IRS.

No, they don't think this or any other country can run without funding. They do feel that the method of taxation we use is unconstitutional.

Yes, I can believe it. People will claim anything is true if it benefits themselves. But, last time I checked, most people who make this claim are not lawyers nor do they consider that the income tax is PART of the Constitution. It is hard to be unconstitutional when income taxes are in the Constitutional Amendments.

Some people don't think things through or do proper research. Income taxes were originally paid in a lump sum at the end of the year, but due to WWII, taxes started being deducted from every paycheck to help fund the military. They decided to keep it that way ever since. Taxes are necessary and we should just be glad we have such a low tax rate, some countries pay many times more than what we do.

Don't you love ignorant people?

There is sort of an urban legend that the constitutional amendment allowing for income taxes was not properly ratified. Everything I've read says that's a lot of horse hockey, but some people still believe it.
