I believe you are referring to Native Americans, are you not? Most tribes that farmed lived in East Texas near rivers. These tribes included the Caddo and the Alabama-Coushatay. Most other tribes in Texas such as the Kiowa, Comanche and Apache were nomadic hunters. Those tribes that farmed had settled in more permanent places and thuse were not subject to yearly migrations of animals for their survival. Farming tribes could store food in anticipation of harsh conditions. However, farming tribes were dependent on readily available nearby sources of water.
