We were talking about the Chicago marahon at school, and my science teacher says that the misting stations located throughout the marathon are there so that your body does not need to produce as much sweat and can take water directly through your pores. But my mom who is a doctor says that can't happen. Who is right?

Your mom. Your teacher is not too bright. The way the sweat cools you off is by evaporating, taking some of your body heat with it. The water does replace sweat in that way, it's evaporation off your skin can cool you as well. Your skin's pores are exit only - you can't rehydrate that way.

The misting is to cool off with water below body temperature. You can't absorb water through your pores.
