My husband and I are really open and he knows where I am or have been and I know with him too....I think it just depends on the relationship and people. I tell my hubby not because I have to but because I want to.

Not if he has never given you reason to not trust him. Accountability is huge in my marriage right now, as I caught my husband having an affair a year ago. I've laid off of him some in recent months, cuz, quite frankly I got tired of babysitting him. Not my job, I'm not his mother, I am his wife. He still checks in periodically, lets me know when he is on his way home from work, little things like that, but I dont hound him anymore like I did when I first found out about his affair. so, in a nutshell, if you trust each other, this really shouldnt be an issue.

Trust is number 1 in a relationship. I know I don't have to tell her where I'm going, but I do it out of respect, and so does she.

If he expects the same from you, then yes. Although, I would think that a spouse wouldn't be going anywhere that's a secret though. If it's a secret, well you know it's not a good place that they'd want you to know about.

No he doesn't have to tell me...but he does on his own accord and I do the same...it is out of respect and not out of expectation.

Why should he? He's a big boy and can take care of himself. Now if I didn't trust him, that would be different.
