I applied to an agency online and received a call for a meeting with them, was asked to bring couple of pictures, but they also said I have to bring my parents and I'm 20? Also what will I be asked to do there and should I prepare for anything?
Thanks

I have to agree that it sounds like a scam. Legit agents do not advertise for new talent, they have all they want, unless you are really special. Powers and Casablancas are known scams as are anyone who asks you for money or tries to sell you classes. You don;t need your parents. They will discover that you have great potential or are just what they are looking for but you need these classes they are selling, when they do that, stand up and say,NO THANK YOU, and leave.

Definitely doesn't sound right. Maybe they think your parents will have deeper pockets... What agency is this? Are you sure they're legit? See if they're listed here: http://www.sag.org/sagWebApp/application?origin=page1.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.refresh&pageid=AgentInformation if not, it doesn't mean their legit but these agents are SAG franchised which means they follow a certain code of ethics including promising to put the actor first. You can also look here: http://www.agentassociation.com/
Another good resource is Ross Reports, but it does cost money to get a copy or a subscription. They do give you a lot more info including casting directors so depending on where youre located it may be worth it. If they're not listed on any of these lists, that's a definite red flag.

As for prep, you either should have been asked to prepare a monologue and bring a scene or they may ask you to cold read something they have on hand which any agent can whip out material from just about anywhere. Just ask for a few minutes to look it over and do what you can with it. Personally I like cold reads because if you have good instincts it will show and you won't have time to over analyze the material.

Please keep in mind that you should absolutely not go alone. Do not sign anything that you haven't had enough time to read thoroughly and consider until you're completely comfortable with the terms. If you're not comfortable, don't sign anything. Remember that you applied online and they asked you to bring your parents... Just be very careful and above all do not pay them anything! Legit agents do not get paid until you book a job. They get 10% for a SAG contract and that's it. Please check out SAG.org for more info. They have lots of it!

good luck!

Legitimate Agencies never ask that you bring parents, unless you are a minor. Sounds like a scam. Don't go. They will probably ask you to pay a lot of money.

Legitimate Agencies never ask for money.

They make money, once the actor makes money.

Sounds too much like a scam.

Until you understand the Agency business and Entertainment side of the business, do not try to become an actor, instead, find acting classes, where you can meet other actors and network with them and acting teachers.

there's probably something wrong with them if they want u to bring ur parents XD.
is it John Cascablanca? cuz they seem kinda ok but they want u to pay for acting classes.
u probably dont need to prepare anything if they didnt say so. if u have a resume u should bring it cuz it will impress them (maybe XD). they will probably ask u to do a cold reading.
