What a neat question! My pet talks, just not English! Cats are extremely good communicators, if people just make the effort to understand what they try to tell you. They try to make it as obvious as they can, and I'm sure some of the poor things get really frustrated by their humans' inability to "listen."
If you don't understand what your pet is "saying," read everything you can find about your type of pet's psychology, and try to develop some empathy. It makes for a much happier pet-human relationship if you know what is going on in your critter's head!
If my boy could speak English, I would have a talk about his insistence on jumping on the tables and counters when he knows that's a major no-no!

In a way, my pet CAN talk. He doesn't say words but whenever the phone rings, he runs up to it and meows in a way that almost sounds like hello.
