I think it's important to be open to new ideas because you will grow your knowledge so much more than being close-minded. How will you learn new things if you just stick to what you like and know? It's like getting education from college; it's filled with new ideas and information. However, if you're not open then you don't have opportunity in order to even survive in this country. But that's on a more major, obvious scale. Basically, any person never knows what they could be interested in. Nobody knows EXACTLY what they like and what they will like in the future. Being open to new ideas is very beneficial as long as it's not an idea that will lead to something negative.

Because if you are close minded it simply means you can not grow and learn things. its all about learning and seeing new people and finding different ways to look at things. if there are religions out there you don't know nothing abut for instance. so to them at least and be informed so when there is talk you can at least talk in a more informed way about it. traveling if you were just closed to new things you would not move from one town but if you have moved to different parts of the United States then you have seen the different way people live and greet one another eat its great to learn and that is my way of thinking. Computers is a new thing also. if you said nope to learning computers and things to do it would be boring while the world around you is still going. you can learn so much from people on the internet. anything you want to know about just put in search andyou can find out about it and there are many people out there waiting to teach us there ways which is good. take care

Because if your close minded, you will never learn anything new and your knowledge will not grow. You may find something you get completly interested in and it changes your entire life.

because the world is constantly chaning.
because we constantly learn things we didn't know/learn changes on what we thought we knew.
because if we don't allow ourselves to continuiosly be open, we will either stagnate, use info that is old/no longer applies, or both!
