I was on the last couple of days of my period when I had sex. My mucus became egglike and watery today 4 days since having intercourse. Could they have survived in the mucus prior to this? It didn't seem like the so called "fertile" mucus until today. I don't want to be pregnant. Should I be nervous?

well sperm can survive up to 7 days in the vagina, despite the different types of mucus. If you were in the last days of your period though, it's more likely that the egg passed before that. and you don't ovulate again for a while after your period, so the chance is bigger that you aren't pregnant.
just in case though, get a pregnancy test. and next time use protection! =]

Sperm ejaculated into a woman's vagina remain alive in the mucus of the cervix and are able to fertilize an egg for three to five days. Sperm ejaculated outside the body usually live only a few hours.

Good luck.

I've been told by a nurse that sperm can live in a wet warm environment inside us for up to 3 days. If you had unprotected sex, and then had a full period, most likely you're ok, BUT if the sperm traveled up the fallopian tube and nailed an egg there, it could be a problem.

yea you should be nervous. Sperm can live up to 7 days under normal conditions. But the mucus give added protection from natural antibodies in the vagina. I say go to your nearest clinic and see if you can get a triple shot of birth control.

It all depends. On dry surfaces, sperm are all dead by the time the semen dries. However, in wet environments, sperm thrive and can live up to 5 days. However, even if you do have unprotected sex a few days before you ovulate, there is still a high chance for pregnancy. So, in my humble opinion, make him wrap it before you do the dirty deed, or go on the pill (if such an option is available to you). ~Indrid

No, if your periods are on a regular monthly cycle, the sperm will not live in you until your fertile days, which is approximately two weeks after the start of your period.
You should consider using condoms with your partner if you do not want to be pregnant

You ovulate between your periods, not during your period. Having intercourse while in menses is a very infertile time. Also your secretions change through the 28 days cycle or you could have a vaginal infection. I wouldn't get worried right now unless you miss your next period/menses. No way should you be having unprotected intercourse! If you are prone to these impulses, get on a birth control, NOW.

Sperm can live for up to 7 days if the sperm is very healthy and it is kept in the "usual" environment in the woman.

It is totally possible. Please take a test from a reputable brand.

Are you only using the rhythm method? If you really don't want to get pregnant I would strongly advise another method also!

Sperms can live in the vaginal and up into the crevice and urethra etc. until it ends up in the Fallopian tube.

Once in the Fallopian tube it can last for 72 hours 3 days.
You do not have a problem Miss.

Sprem can live in the vagina for mostly up to a day or 24 hours, but if it makes you feels any better you should go to the doctor for a check-up or ask one of your friends or somebody older.
