I find it hard to work out the logic here. Why dont they enforce paying for insurance and/or signed delivery confirmation? Having the option of letting people save $1~$2 encourages sellers to save time and effort and only offer regular shipping. Similarly, suppose sellers offer multiple reduced risk shipping options, the money savings still encourages buyers to choose the cheapest mailing methods.

I guess I learned my lesson, but even so, I sure hope I can get my mail safely without having to buy insurance and pay extra for delivery confirmation. I mean, packages should be delivered to people, not front porches. They don't have the ability to sign off the delivery anyways.

I've had other services leave packages on my front stoop in plain sight. I've had the post office not leave packages because they don't want to get out of their car and knock on the door so I get a notice to go to the post office. I've also had valuable photos bent to fit into my mail box despite excellent packing and those words-PHOTOS DO NOT BEND. These folks make a reasonable amount of money to do their job. It seems like no one cares whether they do a good job or not so unfortunately they don't. My mail man leaves mail every two or three days and I run a business. I've complained and the mail gets less frequent. And there are many, many other stories. . .Oh one good one. I used to set up merchandising displays and would be sent whatever I needed by one of those other services. One time they left it down the street and around the corner with someone I didn't know-our local druggie, who told the driver he knew me. There was no info on my door as to where he left it or why. They got nasty when I tried to find out where the stuff was left. It was a disaster and I had to confront the druggie. . .who was not feeling very well at the time. . .
