You can thank our primitive limbic system, that last remnant of our reptillian past, where our deepest emotions and irrational belief systems arise. The cerebral cortex is a later development of our species, say within the last 100,000 years. Emotions are often stronger and probably use alot of energy from the majority of the systems in your boody. For example, when you are furious, your blood is flowing, heart pumping fast, neurons are sending signals to your brain at a faster rate- you're all hyped up to do something,

Logic, on the other hand, calls for you to supress the natural flight or fight impulses and to use only your brain and self restraint.
