It really is difficult to remain unbiased when it comes to discussing Americans. They arrogate to themselves the right to act as this planet's policeman, to condemn other countries for real or perceived breaches of human rights and to rail against forms of government which in American eyes are less democratic than theirs. As Americans are such good Christians, surely they know the passage in the Bible that says: "O thou hypocrite, before thou wouldst remove the splinter from thy brother's eye, attend to the beam in thine own eye!" Never has a passage from the Bible been more apt. So naturally do Americans become defensive when their own shortcomings are pointed out to them, because to face the truth would be unbearable.
Which other self-proclaimed peace-loving country has waged so many wars against smaller defenceless countries, has allowed the members of their military to commit atrocity after atrocity going back to WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam, and now Iraq?
In what other country do you need to be a millionaire or at least be able to raise millions in order to be elected to parliament or chief executive?
Where else on this globe has the education system broken down and/or deteriorated to such an extent that children no are no longer able to read and write or do simple arithmetic and need to take remedial classes upon entering college?
In which other country with the exception of certain Middle Eastern nations does a small fundamentalist religious minority have the power to manipulate both government and the media to enforce a Victorian concept of morality upon an unwilling population?
I could go on and on, but let this suffice.
No wonder Americans are sensitive when it comes to discussing their shortcomings

some of what you say may be true, but it's also true that america is the only country where you can complain with a very negative opinion and not go to jail or/and not be shot for expressing it.

Pay close attention to prophecy and see what it says about the middle east. You may think they are defenseless but all the trouble is going to come from the middle east if prophecy rings true. Do you realize it is quite possible all Jews would have been wiped out by Hitler had we just kept our knows out of WW2? If your country is attacked by one of these "defenseless" countries who would your country have to call on to help them? If your country becomes a communist country would you not want someone to come in help the citizens of that country who are being controlled. You may think these little countries are defenseless but those with a communist mind set are very dangerous individuals. Hence the Korean and Vietnam war. (The domino Theory)

Don't tell me not to get defensive when you completely just went on a rant about my country. You are a moron and EVERY country has their own issues. Don't come here if you don't like it. We don't need you or your approval. Maybe if we stopped trying to save the world and focused on ourselves we wouldn't receive so much crap about it from unappreciative people. Have we made mistakes? yes but the good we have done far out ways the bad. Maybe it is time to isolate ourselves and let the rest of the world figure out their own shortcomings. But once again I must express YOU ARE A MORON.

I'll answer this question you posed:

Which other self-proclaimed peace-loving country has waged so many wars against smaller defenceless countries, has allowed the members of their military to commit atrocity after atrocity going back to WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam, and now Iraq?

You speak so highly of a mid East that has been riddled with wars since the beginning of time. They enslaved the jews and killed the christians, hindus, and other faiths of the world. They still are killing and are not peaceful, like you say.

With great aplomb they will refer to the Qur’anic verses (such as 2:30, 6:165, 7:129, 27:62) which firmly declare that only the Muslims are the rightful inheritors of earth. Allah has assured the victory of Islam by expropriating and usurping the land of the infidels and hand them over to the Muslims (verses 13:41, 21:44, 28:58). The Islamic world is patiently waiting for this ultimate victory of Islam—no infidel should bear any doubt on this mindset of great majority of Islamic diehards.

There are thousands of Islamic organizations in the West whose job is to keep pushing their Islamic agenda to reshape the West. The message is loud and clear: conform to Islam or else face jihad, that is, Islamist terrorism.

Islamic jihad exists in various forms: the military form is the best known. But Muslims are also engaged in other softer forms of jihad on a daily basis, especially in the West. Islamic organizations, mosques and Islamic centres are just few of the many battlefronts where Muslims work very hard to consolidate their presence in the West. In the beginning, they only wanted basic commodities such as halal food and places for worship. When this is duly satisfied by the infidels, they now demand Islamic sharia and their own Islamic holidays, not to mention their demand to influence the foreign policies of their host countries. There are thousands of Islamic organizations in the West whose job is to keep pushing their Islamic agenda to reshape the West. The message is loud and clear: conform to Islam or else face jihad, that is, Islamist terrorism. In other words, the host country must now become Islamic, even though the Islamic community is no more than microscopic in number.

Incoming Muslims perceive that the western societies are in a state of moral and social decay. Young westerners become easy prey for the Muslim predators, who wastes no time to do what they do best: brainwashing those westerners and converting them into willing soldiers of Islam.

Only few months ago the Libyan leader, Muammar Ghaddafi, told his Muslim audience that Europe would soon fall to the Muslims, without a fight. The number of Muslims in Europe is already substantial and is on the increase. Muslim’s high birth rate and their continued influx into the continent is bound to make them a majority in the foreseeable future. One can rarely agree with the maverick Libyan leader on anything, but on this topic I must say I cannot agree more.

The Taliban is a religious or tribal sect that ruled Afghanistan throughout most of the 90's. They were "extreme" in their enforcement of Sharia law, and were known in the west primarily for oppressive laws against women. They were constantly at war with rival tribal groups, and one of the coalitions that opposed them was known as the Northern Alliance. When the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, it did so by working closely with the Northern Alliance, helping them to defeat their old enemies so that U.S. forces were not needed in large numbers.

Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization that had its roots in Afghanistan and was sheltered by the Taliban government. However, the terrorist movement is seperate from the Taliban and while the Taliban seemed content to control Afghanistan, Al Qaeda's goals are to create a global war between Islam and all other faiths, and to eventually make Islam the world religion.

Your question:

Where else on this globe has the education system broken down and/or deteriorated to such an extent that children no are no longer able to read and write or do simple arithmetic and need to take remedial classes upon entering college?

The teachers labor union operates quite a bit with "Peter's Principle". Teachers (some can't teach), (some are lazy and tired and yet overpaid and cannot be fired). There is enough money for schools and there are opportunities to learn. It's a far cry from the little red schoolhouse in the 1800's. But at least the Islamic fascists aren't hiding bombs in the schools and America doen't prevent girls from learning like the Taliban-type schools were run. And where schools in the Saddam era taught that Saddam was the master and God and 1 + 1 = Saddam.

America is not perfect by any means, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Certainly not the Middle East.

^^^ this man is anti islamic!

I'm trying not make this sound defensive but, nobody is perfect...we are all hypocritical....and we are all morally flawed in some way....what separates America from the likes of France and other nations that decry America's transgressions are that when we make a mistake...we humanely and morally oblige ourselves to try to correct our errors...case in point....we rebuilt Europe after WW2 and protected Japan militarily while stimulating their economy as well, we also tried to help the people of Korea after our incursion there (unfortunately the North was uncooperative) South Korea is proof of that, we immigrated hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese people as well as trying to stimulate their economy after the tradgedy in Nam, and now we are trying to create a stable environment in Iraq.......Now when you look at the countries of Europe with their mistakes you can see a complete lack of obligation and total disregard to the humanitarian needs of the victims of their endeavors...look at Africa....look at the Caribbean and South America......even the Middle East.....I'm not saying America is great and Europe is evil.....but when you point out America alone as the symbol for everything that's wrong with the world....you are pointing out a irrational argument that in itself is contradicting what you are trying to convey....
