It really is difficult to remain unbiased when it comes to discussing Americans. They arrogate to themselves the right to act as this planet's policeman, to condemn other countries for real or perceived breaches of human rights and to rail against forms of government which in American eyes are less democratic than theirs. As Americans are such good Christians, surely they know the passage in the Bible that says: "O thou hypocrite, before thou wouldst remove the splinter from thy brother's eye, attend to the beam in thine own eye!" Never has a passage from the Bible been more apt. So naturally do Americans become defensive when their own shortcomings are pointed out to them, because to face the truth would be unbearable.
Which other self-proclaimed peace-loving country has waged so many wars against smaller defenceless countries, has allowed the members of their military to commit atrocity after atrocity going back to WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam, and now Iraq?
In what other country do you need to be a millionaire or at least be able to raise millions in order to be elected to parliament or chief executive?
Where else on this globe has the education system broken down and/or deteriorated to such an extent that children no are no longer able to read and write or do simple arithmetic and need to take remedial classes upon entering college?
In which other country with the exception of certain Middle Eastern nations does a small fundamentalist religious minority have the power to manipulate both government and the media to enforce a Victorian concept of morality upon an unwilling population?
I could go on and on, but let this suffice.
No wonder Americans are sensitive when it comes to discussing their shortcomings

If my baby isn't doing nicely in college then I take a seat with my baby and practice them... Too many father and mom do no longer take a while to help practice their infants... And as for the Bible this is in uncomplicated terms a e book which you would be able to freely elect to have self belief in or no longer... Yes this is marriage and divorce , however unless
one has lived in several other countries, then
americans will always think america is the best.
I have lived in Viet-nam, Australia, Korea, was
born in Germany, and now live in Panama and
before that in the U.S. and I can say there are
other countries that is just as good or better than
the U.S., and yes all countries has its flaws and
Having served in the military 22yrs of my life
defending the U.S, as an american Panama has
much better services for it's retirees than the
United States will ever have, and some critics
here have said if one does not like the way
America is then leave, and I did just that after
being in the U.S. for over 30yrs, and My life here
in Panama is much better because I get a bunch
of retirement benefits that I would never get in
the good ole U.S. so to each it's own.

Wow, your "facts" are exaggerated, mis-informed, and one-sided. I'm not being defensive, I'm being honest. Countless countries have waged war on smaller (defenseless? please) countries and committed atrocities during wartime - Japan on the US, Iraq on Iran, Rome on Germania, Germany on it's own people, Germany on Poland.. I could also go on and on..
In what other country do you need millions to be elected? In many countries no amount of money will due - instead you need to support the fundamentalist regime, be born into the right family, or be a tyrant - how is this an improvement?
Where else has the education system broken down? In many countries in the middle east, women are still not allowed the RIGHT to higher education. What's more broken down than that?
An unwilling population?! UNWILLING?! Our population is unwilling to even VOTE!! If you aren't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. I've read your entire plagiarized rant, but I'm still waiting on some kind of solution to be offered. Well? Sounds to me like YOU are part of the problem.

I'm glad you're voicing your thoughts. I think that the problem is that not all people who live in America are like that, just most of the ones running it. Unfortunatly though it's the population of americans who fit your description that happen to be the ones who vote. If all of us young people, hippies and peaceful people or those few real christians who love everyone and everyone the same- well if we were the ones represting the nation, making sure families, education and opportunity were our foundation instead of power, intimidation and wealth, maybe the rest of the world wouldn't be getting so peed off at us.

I know someone is going to report you to yahoo for this but I will take my chances on keeping my 2 points and stating bravo sweetheart you have just made statement that the rest of the world is to scared to voice , feel proud that you took the stand on behalf of all the rest us who arent game enough.

I'm an Australian and we lost another soldier in Iraq yesterday a dad of 2 little girl's , he was fighting for what he believed in and he loved serving his country , but that doesnt make it right , especially considering American people dont even recognise the aussie troops or UK troops as even existing they think and clearly speak out stating that they are the only troops over there for fighting this war.

So nice to know our soldiers are making sacrifices and just like in the Vietnam war getting no recognition from the American public or government as being involved what a waste of time , if they want to rule the world why ask us for help then not acknowledge us ? the answer is there I just wont state it because I know my answer will be reported along with your question , because after all they are on a higher level of godliness arent they.

Thank you for speaking on behalf of us.

For one you are on the wrong site. More importantly you need to consider moving to one of those other wonderful third world countries who do so much for everyone else in the world. Like that is likely to ever happen. You haven't obviously spent much time in the school system to learn our history. You need to get better educated on the facts before you even aspire to spew such hatred on such a great country. And frankly, we don't need you here.

O thou hypocrite, before thou wouldst remove the splinter from thy brother's eye, attend to the beam in thine own eye!"

How about removing the plank or splinter from your eye, before accusing and ranting at everyone else?

And your point in pointing this out to us American's is what? To make a change? To persuade us that we have shortcomings? To make yourself feel better about your own country? To shake us out of our lazy, devil-may-care attitude? I'm glad my country stands up for freedom, and you are MISTAKEN if you think we are Christians only. You obviously did not study the history of America and why people who were persecuted for their various religious beliefs fled to and founded this country and why so many are still TRYING to become U.S citizens. There's got to be a reason, eh?

You paint a picture with very broad strokes. Am I happy with the political & eductional systems in this country? No. Yet, as an American I can speak out about these things without fear of reprisal. Your opinion matters and you are passionate about what you think, but what nation is without it's faults?

No place on this planet is without it's flaws. I was born in Germany, I'm an American citizen now. Both countries are great and flawed in their own ways. The same can be said for every country on Earth. How am I being sensitive or defensive?

But...why is this in Marriage & Divorce? Just wondering. :)
