i am going to be core drilling my curb for a 3 inch drain system to the street. what size bit should i use? how do i secure the drill? tips on how to get in the right position?\

It depends on what kind of pipe you are using......PVC 3 1/2"
Galvanized 3 3/4"

You know, there are companies out there who specialize in cement cutting and they have all the right equipment to do the job properly. Even if you did find a cement cutting bit the right size, you have to have at least a worm-drive drill (cement cutters use gas-powered equipment) and have a system for putting water on the bit as it cuts.

Otherwise, you'll just generate a bunch of heat and dust, you'll burn out a standard drill motor, and a couple hours of frustration later, you'll just end up calling the cement cutting company anyway.

Coring asphalt or concrete for the size hole you need is not really a do-it-yourself job. It requires a core drill with a barrel-type diamond bit, with a water hose to provide wet cutting. Better to 1) check at city hall, and 2) hire a contractor.

Yes you need the drill your curb.For that you need the proper tools to cut the cement drill and proper paste .

You might also want to check with the city...you know that curb actually belongs to them and they can stick you with a big fine if you do it without their knowledge ( or permit ).
