Krystal, could you please give more information.

Are you asking where to get the prescription written.

Or where to get the prescription filled.

You seem to be getting both answers here.

I think Lalana has a point that if you are using disposable soft contacts, usually the online services are cheaper as they have less overhead.

ffperki also has a valid point that if you have any medical issues which might affect your eyes then you need to see an ophthalmologist.

However, for general, contact lens prescriptions, they actually see probably less patients than the average optometrist, who instead of working with the full issues of all aspects of visual health, works with a more limited range. Optometrist are very well trained in their field, and if you have issues which require an ophthalmologist, they will refer you. If you need contacts, it is generally cheaper to see an optometrist. Normally when getting a fitting for contact lenses they want to put the first set in to ensure the fit, they will then give you the written prescription to go where you want.

As San Antonio is such a large city, it seems that driving all over town for the few dollars difference that you could save on an optometrist is not reasonable. I would suggest, seeing one in your area. Though I will admit I drive half way across the city because I just like the one I see, and have for years.

I would, however, go with Lalana's idea, of getting the contacts online, at 1-800-contacts.

I have found out from my own experiences that cheaper is not always cheaper. I am a diabetic and I would not even consider going on line to buy contacts, nor would I go to anyone that is not a Doctor. I see my Ophthalmologist once a year and would not go to an Optometrist. For the few dollars that you might save I feel like I would save nothing and really don't want to take a chance with my eyes. I Will also tell you that my eye Doctor will always work with me when it comes to cost, he wants me to have what I need also. This isn't the answer that you wanted with or without the 10 points it is the only answer if you are concerned about your vision.

If you are looking to get your eyes examined for contacts you can call Jackson Lujan, I think they have a $99.00 special which included the exam and one trial pair of lenses then you can buy them online once you have the prescription.
