Your body start aging and at one point it can no longer handle the speed and been thrown around.

The bones and joints don't fit as well so loose bones start shaking. Or the heart has to work harder.

LOL.. that's crazy. My dad is 55 and he is mad because I went to Cedar Point and he didn't. I guess a lot of people think that because they mature, that they "are too old for that kind of thing." My point of view? You are never too old to have fun. I have seen people older than my dad get on the Dragster and the Millennium Force at Cedar Point. I say if you want to ride, then ride. If you don't, that leaves more open seats for people like me! =)
It could also be that a lot of roller coasters tell you not to get on if you have back or heart problems, which a lot of people develop as they get older.

For some, I imagine that the older they get, the more they are aware of their mortality. They may feel they are taking more of a risk riding a roller coaster than they did when they were younger and carefree.

It's been the opposite for me.
I wouldn't ride them at all till I was in 6th grade (class picnic and I couldn't look like a chicken in front of everybody else)
I took my family to Cedar Point a couple of Saturdays ago and I rode the Magnum, Millenium Force, and Top Thrill Dragster for the first time.
I loved those and the other coasters that I had a chance to ride. (Main season over so the weekend crowd weren't as bad)

You're afraid because you think that way...

Just think you're not afraid, then you're not afraid.

Remember, you control your thoughts.
