Buy yourself a much smaller vehicle and only use the Ram for big things (not going to get a paper)

your ram isn't ever going to get great mileage. Dodge has never been known for fuel economy. But there are some things you can do. first, replace the stock air filter with a K&N filter. this is usually good for 1-4 mpg increases. Then, if it doesn't have true duel exhausts, I'd run duels with low restriction mufflers. You will have to run duel catalytic converters which you can get online. Some shops won't install them, some will. It's because of the epa and they can get fined if they do. anyway, that is good for another 2-3 mpg. Next, a set of quality headers will help, but the hassle of having the bolts constantly working loose causing exhaust leaks, the higher temps under the hood and the fact that it won't pass smog with em, all keep me from using them. Oh, and by the way, make sure you reinstall your o2 sensor in the new exhausts to keep it legal too. (depending on the year)
after that, it's a question of keeping the tires inflated to the proper PSI ( this alone can save you 1-2 mpg loss) also, stay away from big oversized tires as they take away from your mpg as well. Keep it tuned well, run good fuel and practice starting and stopping slowly without taking off like a rabbit and avoid sudden stops. Let your truck coast to a stop whenever possible. I also found that switching over to mobil one synthetic oil with a good fram oil filter can add a mile or two to your MPG.
EPA and smog laws keep you from really doing much to change things around.
Good luck

This applies to all vehicles: keep air filters clean, use synthetic oil, keep tires at proper pressure, and control your pressure on the gas pedal (taking off and slowing down). I don't advise the parts for increased gas mileage. If they were to help, the automotive manufacturers would be already applying these improvements to their current models.

Better gas mileage. Do you really need the truck or not? If you have no need for it get rid of it.Than find something that does.
