Everyone who wants to be a doctor usually gets a degree in Biology...but isent it good to be diverse? Any recommendations? what science courses do I need to take, etc.? Do I need a Calculus course? And is a high school calculus course that is worth university credit good enough? And can you just explain everything? I do/did I need to take all three sciences in high school? Follow this link to the best overview of the whole process of becoming a doctor that I have found on the web: http://people.howstuffworks.com/becoming-a-doctor.htm

Unless you are interested in going into medical research, your best major is the field that interests you the most--it could be anything from accounting to zoology. If you do a non-science major, an admission committee is going to scrutinize your grades in the pre-req courses and your MCAT score.

You'll need to ascertain whether your calculus course will be reflected on your university transcript. If not, then you'll need to take a college level course.

Take the science courses in high school if they interest you. Keep an eye on your GPA, though. The problem I have with high school sciences is the depth of instruction. They never get into anything in detail enough that you really learn something. Instead, you end up committing a lot of information into rote memory, which is the poorest method of learning and only measures your ability to parrot information. At best, it's about a tenth of what a college level course will teach you.

Something to bear in mind is that an undergrad university really doesn't care what you intend to major in. People change majors all the time. The university wants to see a track record of academic excellence. So choose your courses well.

actually you just need to complete the required courses for entrance to med school and good MCAT scores. If you can get the courses done without completing your degree then you can just apply to med school without completing your bachelor's. It is not formally necessary but it can help. My dad didn't get his bachelor's, he just started med school a year early. look at the admissions section in medical school in the united states on wikipedia
