Twilight is still in development and is not scheduled for release until 2010. Like the others said, they will cast this project from professional talent and a character who is 18 will most certainly be cast by an actor who is 18 to look younger. So unfortunately that will leave you out for the time being. Even if you could pass for 17, which more and more 12 year olds could these days, that's not the point. Producers want an actor over 18 in order to avoid having to hire a set teacher and to be able to work with their actor for more hours. Being under 18 puts many more restrictions on the production and they can avoid that by hiring an actor who is a legal adult. Also, productions are not postponed for talent unless it's for a very short amount of time. More often than not talent is replaced rather than postpone shooting because it costs them millions to put an entire production on hold. They simply won't do it.
If you want a career in the entertainment business, get into classes for acting, dance & voice. Build a resume of theatrical roles, then include student and indie films. This takes years to do. Then when you've amassed something impressive, you submit your headshot and resume to agents.
To keep your eye on Twilight, check this page http://imdb.com/title/tt1099212/ There's nothing there now, but there will be as they get more info on what's happening with the production.
good luck

Sorry but I honestly think the movie producers want an already established actress. Twilight is such a popular book that they probably want someone famous. If there really were auditions that anyone could get into then they would already be announced on the Twilight website. And no, a 12 year old wouldn't be able to look 17. Your body goes through too many changes during that time period. No, they won't wait that long. It takes a lot of cash to prepare a movie so they can't drop everything to wait. This is bad news for you but don't give up acting if you think you're really talented.

I'm assuming 'Twilight' is a movie being filmed, I don't know where or what exactly it is so I can't tell you when or if it's closed or not. The years between 12 and 17 are when a person changes the MOST so the chances of a 12 year old looking like a 17 year old are slim to none...there are exceptions to the rule though. How old you look has nothing to do with height, I'm 22 and only 5'1"! and I know a 20 year old who's 4'11"!! but in our faces we look our ages. And, sorry to disappoint you but unless it's a HUGE HUGE star that they really really really want to them to have the part (and it's the leading role) the company will not postpne filming, mostly for financial reasons.

There is no way for a 12 yr old to look 17. They will no doubt cast someone 18 or older for the part to avoid child labor laws/ Also, the auditions, will be for experienced professionals only. So your amazing talent will do you no good here. And no, they are not going to wait for someone, they have their pick of the best actors in the world, why would they want an unknown minor?

i have no clue about the first part, but i do know that a director probally would never hold the filming of a movie off because there are hundreds of amazingly talented people just waiting to take your place, which is the sad part about the cruel acting world.

You are clearly a big fan of Twilight. Which is very different from wanting to be an actor.
An actor wants to use his or her skills & talent to portray characters, not just one character.
There will be plenty of experienced actors of the right age and type, and they will choose one of them.
