NFL Marketing.
Do you know how many of those hats get ordered just because the players wear them?
Merchandising is a huge part of the NFLs revenue, and what better way to model the product to consumers...

I'm not completely sure about this and I haven't researched it but I believe the NFL has has an exclusive contract or license with Reebok concerning the football equipment each team uses. Basically, Reebok is paying the NFL tons of cash for the teams to use only Reebok products and it must be something in the contract that says the players must wear the hats on the sideline. Another way for Reebok to advertise.

Ummm...Its a little thing called advertising...Its in the contract...Ever notice Tiger Woods wears a Nike hat and shirt all the time?...Or that Nascar drivers put on their sponsors hat when they get out of the car and are interviewed?...Its pretty much all business...

Well...I wouldn't want to wear a sweaty helmet like every minute. And besides....those hats are SWEET! I mean....sweet designs this year.....and Reebok may make them wear them.

Nike Reebok or whoever pays them to put it on. Just like golfers are never allowed cover logos on their shirt or hat.

All of your body heat comes out of your head. Even when it's warm outside, if the body cools off too quickly, you will get sick.
Not only that, but it's hard to watch the game under all the bright lights without having to put on sunglasses to see where the ball is going.

Not all of them do it. Maybe the ones that do, like wearing hats.

good point steven s, it must be something like that... the advertising and merchandising in sports is the ugly side... we are all pawns in their big money game... the players don't mind being used because they realize this is where their huge contract money is coming from...
