It's your thigh-bone. Technically speaking: the femur extends from the hip joint, down the thigh to the knee joint. The longest bone in the body.

It's proximal end articulates with the hip at the acetabulum (forms the ball and socket)...the distal femur articulates with the proximal tibia to form the tibiofemoral (knee joint).
