I am not talking about the "avatar" picture. I am talking about people that will ask..."I am I ugly...or pretty? Rate me!"

These people must have a very low self-esteem. I have my picture on YA because I want people to see who they are communicating with. Mary died almost 21/2 yrs ago and I want to get on with my life. I think that I have made some very good friends on this site, and it has helped me (mentally) to get over losing my wife. It's just like you and Davide, were we ever to meet in person, I think we would be very good friends. Being on the inter-net is like being in cyber space. You don't know what is real and what is not real, but I think you are a very honest person that says what you mean and are a very real person. Thanks for all the best answers. Someone might get the wrong idea. Ha!

I do it for putting down exactly who I am, I don't pretend to be a little girl or little boy and mislead anyone. What you see is what you get, nothing more, nothing less. I first used the avatar and liked the little girl one and everyone thought that was weird. She reminded me of one of my beautiful nieces, but to everyone else, it offended them that I was a 62 year old man. So, now there is no offending anyone, I hope!!!

I believe they are looking for reassurance, or constructive criticism. I don't really think, it is all that different from posting a quality answer, and being selected for posting "best answer". However, they are exposing themselves to ridicule from the mean spirited and insensitive.
