I bring up Jesus because the people who support torture are often christian conservatives.

The Jesus I've always pictured in my mind was sort of a hippie, so no. I don't believe he'd torture others, and I don't believe that we should either.

No. Jesus has already answered that question through inspired Biblical prophesy.
He will wait until we screw everything up.
then he will (AFTER the fact) kill everyone who is sinning and deserves death.
Then He will have His Judgment Day.
