What are good pointe shoes for dancers who have trouble getting over their box?

Hopefully you are wrapping your feet and toes tightly. And no longer using lamb's wool. My girls have been using a rubber form that is molded for their toes, so that it will stablize their feet.
I have found that there is an elastic tape that sticks to itself that helps with the long hours of practice.

As I don't know whether it is a physical reason or a psychological one that is holding you back, my best suggestion is to pay a visit to your local pointe shoe fitter with your shoes, and see if they can help you.
Gamba 93's are a good choice for people with ankles that have limited stretch. They won't solve the ankle problem, but you should find the carbon shank easier to work with. If it is just a question of confidence, your teacher should be helping by giving you lots of strengthening exercises at the barre, once you know how it feels to be up and over the box, the rest is easy. Freed Studios have a nice shank that gives at 3/4 making you go 'over' without losing support, and Primasoft have a revolutionary pitch which put you perfectly in place. Good luck with your pointe work!

Gaynor Mindens seem to help with getting over boxes. I however, do not like them and wouldn't recommend them. Since they are pre-arched, rolling through to pointe is very difficult and 3/4 pointe is difficult as well. I use them now, but I can't wait until I can get different ones. Not too mention, they supposedly weaken feet as they are "cheater" shoes.

I don't know of any other shoes that help get over the boxes. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help.

you might want to try a softer shank, and what you wear in your shoe has nothing to do with getting over your box. if the shank is too hard, then you might have a little trouble, you could go a little softer and see if that makes a difference.
hope i helped!!!:)
