First of all, you don't need a scan (ultrasound) to prove you are pregnant. You can take a simple and inexpensive home pregnancy test and confirm you are expecting. Or the doctor can do a simple blood test. At 7 weeks it should give you the result you want - and that your boyfriend obviously needs to hear.

Your first appointment is about 8-10 weeks and then they see you each month until later in the pregnancy when it goes from 2 weeks, to then every week right up until baby is born.

I hope you and your boyfriend have a plan for this baby's future? Are you planning to marry? Couples who live together are at higher risk for abuse, poverty and violence.

Or have you considered adoption?

All the best to you.

Usually you will be seen every 4 weeks up until your 28th week, then you are seen every 2 weeks until the 36th week, when you'll be seen weekly.

They will either do an early scan at one of your first appointments to confirm due date, or will wait until around 16-20 weeks, at which time it might be possible to tell you the gender, if baby cooperates.

Call the office for your first appointment - they usually want to see you around 8-10 weeks.

You could request one - but they usually don't do them simply upon request. And you'd have to pay for it out of pocket if it's elective.

Did you show him your home pregnancy test? Are you not currently together or something - why wouldn't he believe you?
