Yes, if you are very much overweight, so it would depend on your particular situation.

For woman who are obese the extra fat can hamper cervical dilation and hinder labor progress.

But always try a vaginal delivery first!

Depends on how overweight you are, but generally yes, the more overweight you are, your chances of c-section increase. All the extra tissue can make it difficult for the cervix to ripen and dilate, and it can also make it harder for the baby to pass through the pelvis. This is more common with women who are morbidly obese (more than 100lbs overweight).

But don't freak out - many overweight women are still able to delivery vaginally without problems. They will ALWAYS let you try a vaginal delivery (unless other issues), and will only section you if it's evident that those things I mentioned above are happening.

I think overweight just puts you at a higher chance of developing the problems that may lead to a c-section. Pregnancy induced Hypertension, Pre-eclampsia, Diabetes and such.

No its not... like the previous poster said Gestational Diabetes increases your chance of a c-section if the baby gets to big.. or just random complications that have nothing to do with your size.

no absolutley not! if you have a medical condition such as gestational diabetes they make have you consider a csection because the babies can be bigger but normally not unless its an emergency and the babies heart rate drops drastically
