I gave birth to my son a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. However, as I changed his diapers and gave him baths I began to wonder if something was not right. You cannot tell that he has a penis. When I first laid eyes on him I did notice the abnormality but didn't think twice about it because I was overwhelmed with the whole birth itself. You can only see his testes and nothing else around that region. He doesn't have much pubic fat so his penis probably isn't buried underneath there and he's like this 24/7 so it probably isn't due to the temperature. I'm afraid there might have been some sort of hormonal issue while he was in my womb. Neither the doctor nor the nurses mentioned anything to me about his penis while I at the hospital. So I'm not quite sure if there is definitely something wrong or not. My sister also has a son and he did not look like that when he was born. He had a clearly visible and well developed shaft. Anyone out there experience a similar situation before?

I have never heard of this, but I would be concerned. I would talk to his pediatrician, either make an appointment for this or wait until his next check up. I would have thought someone would have said something to you at the hospital, especially if he was circumcised, if there was a deformity or something, so hopefully he is fine. But definitely talk to his doctor about it.

I would have guessed that the penis was buried in pubic fat, but you ruled that out. Differentiating between a normal small penis and true micropenis is often difficult. There are several causes for the condition and treatment varies with the cause. Discuss the issue with your child's pediatrician at the first well-care visit. He or she may recommend a visit to a pediatric urologist. If you live in a large city, there even may be one who has a special interest in this condition.

the only thing i can say is that when both my boys were born the nurses were kind enough to say they wouldn't have problems with women when they became men. In your case i would definately talk to your childs doctor and if he/she says its nothing get another opinion, i can tell you that at 3 weeks of age a penis is very noticeable.

You've asked this question many times in less than 24 hours. It's time you take your son to the doctor.

Good luck.

Surely the doctors and nurses checked him over?? You really should ask them if it is worrying you.
